AI Mode & AI Overview query classifier

Some queries in your Search Console report were never typed into a search box. They’re fragments of prompts people send to Google’s AI Mode and AI Overviews (“yes go on”, “what about for small teams”, “show me pictures”), plus prompts fired by AI rank-tracking tools. Upload your query export and this tool labels every query, so you can see how people really talk to AI about your category.

What you’ll see

What the buckets mean

Conversational

Prompts written to an assistant, usually with the searcher’s own situation built in (“we’re a 20-person team and need…”). The best raw material for content and FAQs.

Pivot

Follow-ups that only make sense mid-conversation, like “what about pricing” or “show me pictures”, often in other languages.

Reply artefact

Bare chat replies such as “yes” or “tell me more”.

Tracker probe

Templated prompts from AI visibility tools (“…give a definitive answer”, “…my location is usa.”). They show which prompts someone is tracking in your space.

Agent harness & pasted text

Instructions written for an LLM, and pasted exam questions, specs or lists.

Ordinary

Normal searches, even long ones phrased as questions.

How to export your queries from Search Console

  1. Open the Performance reportIn Search Console, go to Performance → Search results and choose a date range. Six months is a good start.
  2. Export the queriesClick Export → Download CSV and drop the Queries.csv file into the tool above.
  3. Go past the 1,000-row capAdd a regex query filter, for example ^\S+(\s+\S+){6,}$ for queries of seven or more words, export again, and drop all the CSVs in together. Duplicate queries are merged.

What happens to your data

PrivacyYour CSV is read in your browser and never uploaded. Rules classify the obvious queries on your device. Only the text of the ambiguous queries is sent, without clicks, impressions or your domain, to our classifier, where an AI model labels it. We don’t store or log your query text. There’s no account and no sign-up to run it.
Read the results as an undercountGoogle anonymises rare queries, and conversations are rare strings, so the real share of AI-driven queries is higher than any export shows. The trend over time matters more than the exact number.
